Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I don't get asked a lot about what's in my toolbelt but here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff. Happy to be sponsored by any of these companies if they want to send me free stuff. 😜 Let's be honest, my wife bought me most of these things anyway.

Workstation

  • 16” MacBook Pro, M1 Max, 64GB RAM (2022)

Best piece of hardware I’ve ever owned. It just works.

  • LG UltraFine 4K Display

What a beautiful display and oooh the 8 million pixels.

  • 49 Odyssey Super Ultra Wide QLED Gaming Monitor

My main monitor is a 49” ultrawide. I love the real estate and the aspect ratio is perfect for development.

  • Apple Magic Keyboard

I’m a big fan of the Magic Keyboard. I love the feel of the keys, the touchID, and not having extra wires.

  • Apple Magic Trackpad

Gestures and all the things to make using a mouse easy.

  • DPS 3D Insight Gaming Chair

I’m in the chair all day, so i might as well be comfortable.

  • Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Noise cancellation at its finest. I love these headphones. They sound great and the mic comes through clear.

  • Sonos Five

For the days when I need a little more base.

Software Tools

  • Visual Studio Code (vscode)

I’ve tried Intellij, Sublime, pyCharm, and Atom but I always come back to vscode. It’s fast, it’s extensible, and it’s just a great editor. I also sometimes use the Synthwave x Fluoromachine & epic animations.

  • iTerm2

Transparent terminals, split screens, etc. I somehow feel more productive with it.

  • Docker

Let’s make sure it works in a container and not just on my computer.

  • Zsh

Custimizations to make the terminal feel like home. I use oh-my-zsh.

  • Parallels

Great software for working with databases. Has saved me from building about a thousand admin interfaces for my various projects over the years.

Research Tools

  • Elastic Stack

Search, Observe, Protect. #1 Security XDR for any organization.

  • Cobalt Strike

    Great threat emulation tool.

  • Prelude Operator

Another great emulation tool. + I like the chains.

Design

  • Figma

Figma is a great tool for designing and prototyping. I’m not a UI designer, but it makes it really easy to develop components and mockups.

  • Nextjs & Tailwindcss

It’s what I used to create this personal website. I love the simplicity of the framework and the utility classes.

Unproductivity

  • Saber Theory Proffie Neopixel Obi Saber

Great way to blow some steam and all of the presets are amazing.

  • Qidi X-Max 3D Printer

This thing is huge, but it prints amazing. It’s basically an industrial printer.
